meet c4c

Name: Liza
Role at C4C: Educational partner, advisor, friend, grant writing fairy, C4C superfan 🙂
Why are you involved with C4C?: I was completely drawn by the act of connecting school with real life. C4C provides something that other programs don’t — it requires us to use our minds, think critically, make meaningful connections with other people, practice professionalism, and realize that all of these things add up to our own success. Plus, C4C does all of this and helps us to make changes in our own community by providing opportunities for work. I love the city of Brockton, and I love that C4C is working with community partners to help our city and our people be the best we can be!
Favorite sport: Running. I love it. I love the rhythm of my sneakers on pavement and the knowledge that I am going to get out whatever I put in.  I used to play soccer in high school, but, now I love watching it!

Favorite song:    Oooh, tough one. I’m a music addict, so I like all kinds. But, today, my favorite song is Lucy Pearl’s “Dance Tonight”

Favorite subject in high school: Music — it was the time of day when I felt most alive!

First job: My first paying job was as a cashier at a swimming pool supply store in my hometown!
Favorite book: Roots by Alex Haley

Most embarrassing high school moment: I used to do musical theater in high school, and I had to wear this ridiculous hot pink, sparkly dress with a big skirt. We had to wear our hair all curled and hair-sprayed. Honestly, back then, I thought it was awesome — now, not so much.

“When I grow up ….”: I want to be able to say that my work made a difference in the lives of others.

“Education is…” using our mind, not just our brain. Education uplifts us all, creates pathways for our futures, and opens the door to possibilities. Education means we think broadly about how to make change specifically. I believe education is a right and not just something only a few people should have access to.

“Coaching for Change is …” everything we should all strive to be. It brings people together, it shows us that we can make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of others. And, we can do all this and stuff have a ton of fun!
